Valencia Grand Prix preview

Marc Marquez missed out by 0.032 seconds on taking the final pole position of the MotoGP season. But the six-time world champion looks a fine bet to make amends in the Valencia Grand Prix.

Fabio Quartararo cemented his status as rookie of the year with a sixth pole position, but the Frenchman is still seeking his first premier class race win.

Quartararo started from pole in Malaysia last time but struggled for pace in the race, coming home seventh.

Marquez finished second in that event, ending a run of five straight victories. However, he had started 11th after a huge crash in qualifying and raced through the pain of severely bruised knees.

Maverick Vinales was the beneficiary of Marquez's misery in Malaysia, and the Spaniard will be eyeing another strong result to secure third place in the championship.

The Yamaha rider tends to get stronger as a race wears on and has won twice this season.

However, a fully-fit Marquez has proved to be in a class of his own this season. He has finished first or second in every race he has completed, and crashed out of a huge lead in Texas early in the campaign.

The Honda ace looks overpriced at odds-against to end the season with another win.
