MotoGP of the Americas betting preview, tip and TV channel
Valentino Rossi can put up most resistance to Austin king Marc Marquez
BT Sport 2, 8pm Sunday
Marc Marquez starts from pole position for the MotoGP of the Americas for the seventh straight year after keeping up his unbeaten record in qualifying at the Texan track.
The world champion is a prohibitive 1-5 to keep up his 100 per cent win record in Austin despite dropping hints that the 2019 Honda engine isn't entirely happy through the slowest corners on the circuit.
If he wins Marquez will equal Valentino Rossi's record of most consecutive victories at the same circuit, which Rossi achieved at Mugello between 2002 and 2008.
So it's perhaps fitting that the Italian is in the best shape to prevent him doing so. Rossi starts second and looks a decent each-way bet at 7-1 with Betfred, who offer a third the odds for two places.
Yamaha have made a much brighter start to the season than last year with Maverick Vinales taking pole position in the season-opener in Qatar and Rossi delivering a fine second place in Argentina last time.
The 40-year-old retains all his enthusiasm for the sport, and with his bike looking strong this weekend coinciding with troubles for regular podium-challengers Ducati, the Doctor will be aiming for at least second place.
Recommendation
V Rossi
1pt each-way 7-1 Betfred
