British Grand Prix weekend 2019 looks set to be a massive improvement on last year's embarrassing Silverstone washout and the scene is set for a sizzling race.

Championship leader Marc Marquez secured pole in a thrilling qualifying session. Rookie sensation Fabio Quartararo had been fastest on the first run of Q2, despite being troubled by a warning light on his bike that caused him to change machines for his final run.

His benchmark time was beaten by Marquez, Valentino Rossi and Jack Miller on their final runs and an entertaining shootout on the relaid Silverstone surface is anticipated.

Marquez is a perfectly fair price at 8-13 as he seeks his seventh win of the season and the Spanish superstar has finished first or second in ten of the 11 races this year.

However, a strong run can be expected by Sunday specialist Rossi, who has never completed a race this season in a lower placing than his grid slot. Having performed better than usual in qualifying, proving his practice pace was no fluke, he can at least make Marquez work for victory.

The legendary Italian has finished 3-3-1-3-4 in his last five races in Britain, although the 2015 success was his only grand prix win at Silverstone (his three other British GP successes came at Donington).

Maverick Vinales had been strong throughout the practice sessions and should also be in the mix from sixth on the grid.
