Lewis Hamilton is 11-10 favourite to win this weekend’s British Grand Prix for what would be a record sixth time.

The four-time world champion has won at Silverstone for the last four years, and also took pole position and set the fastest lap of the race last year.

Hamilton trails Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel by one point at the top of the championship following the Mercedes driver’s failure to finish in Austria on Sunday.

His teammate Valtteri Bottas also suffered a mechanical failure which marked the first time both Mercedes have failed to finish a race due to breakdowns since Formula One switched to hybrid power in 2014.

Mercedes had delayed the introduction of an engine upgrade due to reliability concerns last month.

Hamilton is still 8-15 to claim his fifth world title with Vettel a top-price 13-8.

The German has not won at Silverstone since 2009 and made the podium only once in the last five years, but is rated 7-2 second favourite for Sunday’s race.

Mercedes have recorded front-row lockouts at the last two grands prix and Hamilton is 4-5 to score his fourth pole position of the year in Saturday’s qualifying session. Vettel is a 2-1 chance with Austria pole-sitter Bottas 9-2.
