Fabio Quartararo has taken two consecutive pole positions and the superb rookie looks value to extend that sequence.

The Yamaha rider was fastest in qualifying in Holland last week after cheiveing the same feat in Catalunya, and he also qualified on pole in Jerez earlier in the season.

Championship leader Marc Marquez is odds-on for pole, which would be his fifth of the season.

The Honda star was quickest in Friday practice by an impressive three-tenths of a second. But Quartararo, who was fastest in the morning session, couldn't get a clear lap in the afternoon.

Marquez is the undisputed king of Sachsenring. The Spanish superstar has won from pole position at the track every time he has raced there since 2010. That run of results takes in three different categories of motorcycle racing and six MotoGP wins.

But all reigns come to an end and Quartararo - on a non-factory machine - looks a real star of the future.
