Preview

After a pretty disastrous start to the season, Ferrari are starting to show signs of form and Sebastian Vettel could be a value bet to give the team a lift by earning a podium finish in the Hungarian Grand Prix.

Charles Leclerc finished second for Ferrari in the season-opener in Austria, but that was mostly a result of others' misfortunes. A week later, the Monegasque took both red cars out of the race on the opening lap after they had again qualified in midfield.

The Ferraris start fifth and sixth in Hungary, and having shown more competitive form in race trim than over a single lap in Austria, they can look forward in the race.

Lewis Hamilton claimed his 90th career pole position with Mercedes teammate Valtteri Bottas second as the German outfit dominated qualifying.

Racing Point drivers Lance Stroll and Sergio Perez claimed the second row and have looked strong all weekend.

The front four cars all start on the medium tyre, which gives them a theoretical advantage over those starting on softs lower down the top ten.

Perez stormed from 17th on the grid to sixth in last week's Styrian Grand Prix, and he and Stroll will have high hopes of earning the team's first podium of the season.

Stroll tends to be less consistent than the Perez however, and from third on the grid the Canadian could hold up his more experienced teammate in the early stages.

Red Bull were expected to challenge Mercedes at a circuit which often suits their cars, but Alex Albon missed out on the top-ten shootout in qualifying while Max Verstappen lines up seventh.

The Dutchman took pole position in Hungary last year and led most of the race before being overhauled by Hamilton.
