It's 11-1 bar one for qualifying for Sunday's MotoGP at the Circuit of the Americas but there are reasons for taking on the King of Cota Marc Marquez in the session.

Marquez has won from pole position on all his five visits to Texas, setting the fastest lap of the race on four of those occasions.

However, it was a very out-of-sorts Marquez who failed to take pole position in Argentina for the first time in his career.

The four-time world champion was classified 18th in that race, after stalling on the grid, being involved in several uncharacteristic clashes on the track and picking up a ride-through penalty and a ten-second time penalty.

The undoubted class of the field Marquez may be, but if you're only as good as your last performance then the Honda ace has questions to answer.

Of course, it's more than likely the Ant of Cervera will bounce back to form but there is a chance of rain during qualifying which makes the long-odds on Marquez look no certainty.

After an unimpressive Friday, Johann Zarco is likely to have to advance from Q1 to get into the pole position shootout, but the consistent Frenchman could be value to head the grid.

The Yamahas looked more competitive than of late in practice and Zarco, who started from pole position in the season-opener in Qatar, was very close to being fastest on wet-weather tyres in Argentina last time.
