Match preview

The race for the Sky Bet Championship playoffs is an unforgiving heat so Millwall and Swansea will be desperate to avoid any further slip-ups when they meet at the Den.

Cardiff have joined Brentford, Fulham and Nottingham Forest in the playoff places after resuming their campaign with fine wins over Leeds and Preston.

The Bluebirds have a three-point lead over the chasing pack but just two points separate seventh-placed Preston from Bristol City in 12th going into Tuesday's games.

Millwall and Swansea are two of the clubs in that bunch but both dropped points in winnable fixtures at the weekend.

The Lions, having lost 3-2 at home to Derby in their previous outing, were held to a goalless draw at bottom club Barnsley while Swansea slipped to a surprise home defeat to second-bottom Luton.

The Swans can take heart from their previous away game, when they scored three times in the first 34 minutes of the win at Middlesbrough, and Millwall's recent home record is patchy.

The Bermondsey boys are without a win in five home games and they could be troubled by lively Swansea forwards Andre Ayew and Rhian Brewster, the Liverpool loanee who has scored five times in seven away appearances this season.

The Swans were poor against Luton but still won the shot count 11-7 and they had been competing well against some tough opponents before the season was suspended.

Steve Cooper's men drew with West Brom and Blackburn and lost to an injury-time goal at Fulham so they should be optimistic of claiming a crucial three points at Millwall.

Key stat

Millwall have taken just three points from their last five Sky Bet Championship home matches.
