Betting preview

They have left it late but Team GB have finally guaranteed themselves a medal at the 2022 Winter Olympics.

Bruce Mouat and his squad edged out 2018 Olympic champions USA in the men's curling semi-finals to set up a gold medal-game clash with Sweden, who they beat in the group stage only on Wednesday.

That was the first match the Swedes had lost in the group stage, and that could be significant as they didn't need to win it with their place in the semi-finals already guaranteed.

They also lost their final group game against Switzerland but bounced back in the semis to edge Canada in a match which, like GB v USA, went right down to the wire.

Great Britain are rated favourites for the gold-medal game but those who followed Racing Post Sport's pre-tournament advice to back the Swedes can be happy with their bet.

The men's four-man bobsleigh gets going at 1.30am Friday night and Team GB driver Brad Hall will be out to atone for crashing out of the two-man competition.

Francesco Friedrich headed home a clean sweep of medals for Germany in the two-man, and should probably be even shorter than the 1-3 on offer having driven to victory in seven of the eight four-man World Cup races this season.

The Beijing biathlon action concludes with the men's and women's mass starts and Frenchman Quentin Fillon Maillet is worth a bet to add another Olympic gold to his collection.

The overall World Cup leader has two golds and a silver from the individual races, as well as two silver medals from the two relays, and his shooting has looked much surer under pressure than his expected main rival Johannes Thingnes Boe.
