Mayer can continue to trouble enigmatic Paire
Enigmatic Frenchman could fold

Benoit Paire is favourite to defeat Florian Mayer in the opening round of the ATP Moselle Open but the enigmatic Frenchman might struggle to deliver the goods in front of his home crowd.
Paire has won just three matches since making the fourth round at Wimbledon and while he will receive plenty of support from the French fans, he has an ordinary record in Metz, failing to reach the third round on four previous outings.
Mayer reached the final of a Challenger Tour event in Poland last week, losing out to Paire's compatriot Richard Gasquet who is a more than creditable opponent at the lower level.
That match took place on clay but the German, a semi-finalist on his last visit to Metz in 2013, is a capable hard-court player.
Paire is prone to offering little resistance if things aren't going his way and Mayer boasts a 3-0 head-to-head record over the Frenchman, including an easy straight-sets win on the grass in Halle in the summer, so the home hope already looks up against it mentally.
At a shade of odds-against, Mayer looks a cracking bet and he should arguably be favourite against the temperamental 28-year-old.
