Mark King ought to crown Kleckers in Latvian capital

German may not get as many chances against Essex veteran

Mark King was pretty solid among the balls in his Latvian opener

Day two
Eurosport 2, from 9am Saturday

First-round results in the Riga Masters suggest Mark King should not have much trouble seeing off Lukas Kleckers in round two.

Kleckers' 4-3 win over Robbie Williams in Latvia reads well, but the German had only one run higher than 35, a 55, and Williams failed to capitalise on numerous table visits.

King posted five breaks of between 42 and 56 in the course of seeing off Xu Si 4-2 and a similar effort from the seasoned Essex potter should be good enough to unsettle Kleckers.

Scott Donaldson edged out Robin Hull 4-3 and could go deeper in the tournament but his next opponent Craig Steadman, a 4-1 winner over Zhou Yuelong, has carried over his form from last season well.

Recommendation
M King -1.5 frames
