Nathan Ake is fit again so City should have a full-strength squad.
Danny Ings has joined Oriol Romeu, Theo Walcott and Michael Obafemi in the treatment room.
Pep Guardiola was forced to stick at 21 after being beaten by neighbours United in the Manchester derby and City look a short price to bounce back against Southampton.
The Saints are on a sorry run, having taken just one point from a possible 27 before snapping their winless streak at Sheffield United on Saturday.
But the return of key players Kyle Walker-Peters and Takumi Minamino meant Ralph Hasenhuttl was able to shape his side exactly how he wanted. And even Danny Ings' latest injury simply offered Che Adams the chance to step up and shine, an opportunity he took alongside the hugely talented Nathan Tella.
It will be different, of course, for Saints at City, where they will see a lot less of the ball than they did at Bramall Lane, but this probably isn't a bad time to be visiting the Etihad.
City looked short of inspiration against United as they saw their 21-game winning run ended and they have had only three days off, 24 hours less than Southampton. And while City have to go again in another three days at Fulham, Saints' workload is a breeze in comparison.
Guardiola can make more high-class personnel changes than any other gaffer but his side can be made to labour, as they were by West Ham two weeks ago.
The last three showdowns between Guardiola and Hasenhuttl have been close calls – City won 1-0 at St Mary's in September, Saints beat them 1-0 there in July and the previous showdown in Manchester ended in a hard-earned 2-1 triumph for the hosts.
Another one-goal defeat or better could be rewarded by backing Saints +1.75 goals on the Asian handicap.
Saints have lost only three games by more than two goals in the last 13 months.
