Kings XI big hitters could surprise Bangalore

Maxwell's men value in sixes bet

Delhi Daredevils ace Glenn Maxwell can go from cameo to crazy in an instant

Kings XI Punjab finished bottom of the Indian Premier League last season but the 2017 campaign under new skipper Glenn Maxwell started with an impressive win over Pune at Indore.

The Punjab boys return to the venue to take on Bangalore Royal Challengers, ante-post favourites to claim a maiden title despite the fitness problems of superstars Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers.

Kohli and De Villiers were two of the three highest runscorers in the IPL last year and Bangalore's batting has been unconvincing without them. They lost the opening game of the season to Hyderabad before successfully defending a modest total of 157-8 against Delhi last time out.

De Villiers could return for the clash with Kings XI but the home side are an appealing bet at 6-4 to hit more sixes than Bangalore.

They won that heat 8-7 against a dangerous Pune side, with Maxwell hitting four sixes and David Miller clearing the ropes twice. Marcus Stoinis, who struck 11 maximums in an amazing ODI century for Australia against New Zealand in January, wasn't required to bat in the opening game but is another big hitter for Kings XI.
