Rabada can rule the roost for South Africa against Zimbabwe

Proteas 1-8 to win first-ever four-day Test

South Africa fast bowler Kagiso Rabada took 10-63 against Bangladesh in October

South Africa are 1-8 to beat Zimbabwe in the first-ever four-day Test at St George’s Park in Port Elizabeth and bookmakers have to be right to think that the Proteas will not be undone by the strange daily playing conditions of 98 overs across three day-night sessions.

Home skipper Faf du Plessis can call upon all four of his premier pacemen – Kagiso Rabada, Vernon Philander, Dale Steyn and Morne Morkel – for the first time in ages and ace batsman AB de Villiers returns too, although he is still enduring back niggles.

They also boast the experience of last year’s day-night Test defeat to Australia in Adelaide.

The best value bet looks to be Rabada to be man of the match at 8-1. He took 10-63 to claim the award in the Proteas’ last five-dayer against Bangladesh in October and claimed 16 wickets in three Tests last summer in England.

Melbourne Stars are 8-11 to win Tuesday’s Big Bash game at Perth Scorchers, while Brisbane Heat are 4-6 to beat Sydney Thunder in Wednesday’s clash (both BT Sport 2, 8.10am).
