Juan Quintero to help River Plate reach semi-finals
Independiente may regret first-leg draw
River Plate v Independiente
The knockout stages of the Copa Libertadores tend to be tight affairs and that is likely to be the case when River Plate host Independiente in the second leg of their all-Argentinian quarter-final.
Of the 20 ties this season 15 have featured no more than two goals while both teams have scored in just four contests so a low-scoring game is understandably quoted at short prices, particularly as the first leg finished in a 0-0 stalemate.
However, it could be worth backing River to come out on top. The club have been flying in recent weeks, progressing to the quarter-finals of the domestic cup and beating arch-rivals Boca Juniors 2-0 on the road, while Saturday's thumping 5-1 success over Lanus was another boost of confidence.
Juan Quintero pulls the strings in midfield for Marcelo Gallardo's men and one-time Sunderland flop Ignacio Scocco followed a superb strike in the Boca victory by also bagging at Lanus.
River edged the shots-on-target count in the first leg 7-5 and can overcome Independiente, who have drawn six of their last seven league and Copa Libertadores fixtures, but may be made to pay for not taking advantage in their home leg.
