Joe Swail is the slightest of favourites to open his Paul Hunter Classic title tilt in positive fashion against Paul Davison in Germany and the Northern Irish ace can be chanced to win the veterans' battle.

In recent qualifying action Davison beat Noppon Saengkham 4-2 to earn a trip to the Indian Open and followed that with a 4-1 triumph over Stephen Maguire in the European Open.

But Snowy has since lost 5-0 to Tom Ford in the China Championship qualifiers and the extra playing time this season may not save him over the best of seven frames against dual Crucible semi-finalist Swail, who performed promisingly in a 5-3 loss to Anthony McGill in the same tournament.
