Best Premier League bet

Newcastle v Liverpool BT Sport 1, 12.30pm Saturday

Facing Liverpool is a daunting prospect for most teams in Europe but Newcastle should be in good heart for their clash with Jurgen Klopp's Reds.

The Magpies' defensive improvement under Eddie Howe has been the key to their rise from relegation candidates to top-half hopefuls and they have won their last six league matches at St James' Park.

Four of their seven home wins this season have been by a 1-0 margin and they racked up another clean sheet in last weekend's 3-0 win at Norwich, while Liverpool were made to work hard for a 2-0 derby victory over Everton.

Since the start of February, Klopp's men have conceded just three goals in 11 league games – two of them in a draw at title rivals Manchester City – and seven of those matches featured under 2.5 goals.

Given the strength of both defences, and the likelihood that Liverpool may be feeling a little jaded after Wednesday night's Champions League semi-final first leg against Villarreal, the 6-5 about two goals or fewer looks a good price.

Best EFL bet

Sutton v Bradford 3pm Saturday

Sutton's outstanding home form is keeping alive their hopes of a League Two playoff place and they are a tempting price to rack up a fourth straight victory to nil on their own patch when they host Bradford.

The hosts have had a remarkable first campaign in the Football League, losing only three of their 22 home league matches and reaching the final of the EFL Trophy.

Sutton conceded just one goal in five home games during their run to Wembley and they have been hard to score against in recent league matches, following up 1-0 wins over Leyton Orient and Newport County with a 3-0 victory against Crawley last weekend.

All three of those clubs are above Bradford in the standings and the Bantams, who started the season with high hopes under new manager Derek Adams, are limping towards the finish line.

They beat relegated Scunthorpe 2-1 at Valley Parade last time out but had scored just three goals in a six-game winless streak prior to that win and have failed to find the net in ten of their 22 away matches this term.

Best European bet

Valencia v Levante LaLigaTV, 5.30pm Saturday

Levante had to wait until January 8 to claim their first La Liga victory of the campaign but their late-season resurgence has given them a faint hope of avoiding relegation from the Spanish top flight.

They won 1-0 away to Atletico Madrid at the start of February and have impressed in their last four league matches, beating Villarreal 2-0 at home, winning 4-1 away to Granada, and competing well in 3-2 defeats to highflying Barcelona and Sevilla.

Those recent performances suggest they have a puncher's chance of taking three points at Valencia, who came from 2-0 down to win 4-3 in the reverse fixture shortly before Christmas.

This weekend Los Che can expect to face a far more confident Levante side who have scored at least once in each of their last 11 league games.

Valencia, in contrast, have struggled in front of goal recently, winning only one of their last six matches and scoring just twice from open play during that run.

Levante had 15 attempts to Sevilla's 13 last week, including a costly penalty miss from skipper Jose Luis Morales, and they are a big price to win at Valencia, whose season is petering out.
