Best Premier League bet

Liverpool v Brighton 3pm Saturday

Brighton have had an eventful start to the season, winning four of their first six Premier League matches but losing manager Graham Potter to Chelsea, and new boss Roberto De Zerbi faces a daunting early set of fixtures.

The Seagulls' next six scheduled matches include clashes with Manchester City, Tottenham and Chelsea but they should not be overawed by Saturday's trip to stuttering Liverpool.

Brighton came from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 at Anfield last season, when they also beat Arsenal and Tottenham away from home, drew twice with Chelsea and thumped Manchester United 4-0 at the Amex Stadium.

They kicked off the 2022-23 campaign with a 2-1 win at Old Trafford, signed off the Potter era with a 5-2 rout of Leicester, and owner Tony Bloom expects a smooth handover to De Zerbi, whose "style and tactical approach will suit our existing squad superbly".

Liverpool, beaten 1-0 at home by Brighton in 2020-21, thrashed Bournemouth 9-0 at the end of August but have won only two of their other seven matches. They scored in the 97th and 89th minutes of those wins, against Newcastle and Ajax, so it is hard to see them brushing aside their impressive visitors.

Best EFL bet

Bristol City v QPR 3pm Saturday

Bristol City and QPR have both made solid starts to the Championship season and an intriguing contest looks likely at Ashton Gate.

QPR go into the game one point ahead of the Robins, who have lost their last two fixtures against title contenders Norwich and Burnley.

Before those losses came a 3-2 away win against Blackburn, a 2-0 home victory over Huddersfield and 3-3 draw at Blackpool and Nigel Pearson will be keen to tighten up a defence who have conceded ten goals in their last five matches.

The hosts may struggle to keep a clean sheet against a lively QPR attack and visiting forward Chris Willock is a tempting each-way bet to score first.

Willock scored five goals in his first six league appearances this term and in his seventh, a goalless draw at home to Stoke, he racked up five attempts at goal.

Best European bet

Atalanta v Fiorentina BT Sport 2, 5pm Sunday

Six of Atalanta's first seven Serie A matches this season have ended with under 2.5 goals, including a 1-0 win at Roma last time out, and Sunday's meeting with Fiorentina could be another cagey contest.

Last term, Fiorentina won 2-1 at Atalanta with all three goals coming from the penalty spot and they completed the double with a 1-0 home win in February.

La Viola started this season with a 3-2 home victory over Cremonese but since then they have scored just seven times in ten games in Serie A and Europe.

Atalanta could be missing key man Teun Koopmeiners, who has scored four and set up one of their 11 league goals this season, as the midfielder suffered concussion while on Nations League duty with the Netherlands and he is one of the few in-form attackers on either side.

Weekend accumulators

Banker
Norwich
The Canaries have taken 19 points from the last 21 available in the Championship and they should be too good for leaky hosts Blackpool, who have lost three of their last four.

Blowout
Southampton
Everton have had four draws and a 1-0 win over West Ham in their last five Premier League matches and, having conceded only six goals in seven games this term, they can stand firm at St Mary's.

Accumulator
Norwich 10-11, Barnsley 13-10, Leyton Orient 10-11, Real Madrid 3-10. £1 accumulator returns £10.91 with BoyleSports.

Both teams to score
Games at Leicester 4-6, Wycombe 8-11, Crawley 10-11. £1 treble returns £5.52 with Hills.
