Threeballs
Thailand's Thongchai Jaidee defends his French Open title this week and he should be able to get off to a good start at Le Golf National.

His win over Francesco Molinari 12 months ago was the fourth time in the last five years that he has finished in the top 15 on the outskirts of Paris and he should have enough to get the better of playing partners Hideto Tanihara and Danny Willett in their 12.20pm BST threeball.

Jaidee flew out of the blocks with a 67 on his way to glory last year and you have to go back to the Tour Championship in November to find the last time he shot more than 72 in an opening round on the European Tour.

Japanese raider Tanihara has limited experience of playing in Europe, although he finished third in May's BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth.

However, he needed rounds of 69-67-68 to recover from an inglorious opening 76 and it may take time for his charge to get going.

Willett remains in the doldrums since the former Masters champion endured a miserable Ryder Cup and has broken 71 in just two of his last 11 European Tour opening spins.

Recommendation
T Jaidee to win threeball
