Inconsistent England can't be trusted to dominate Pakistan
Three Lions too short to win series
Starts 11am Thursday
England's Test team have been consistently inconsistent for years, losing at least one match in 15 of their 16 Test series since a 3-0 home win in the 2013 Ashes.
They look too short at around evens for a 2-0 series win over Pakistan especially with matches at Lord's, where they lost to Pakistan in 2016, and Headingley, where they have flopped as favourites in three of their last four Tests, losing to Sri Lanka, New Zealand and the West Indies.
Pakistan are a raw side but their bowling attack, featuring the brilliant Mohammad Amir and teenage leg-spinner Shadab Khan, could trouble an unsettled England batting line-up with Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler coming straight from the IPL.
Draws look unlikely given the strength of the two bowling units in early-season conditions so the 1-1 correct score is worth a small bet.
Asad Shafiq's credentials have been discussed in the first Test preview and he looks value to be Pakistan's top series runscorer.
The 32-year-old is a nice fit for the number-four spot and there are doubts over market leaders Azhar Ali and Babar Azam.
Opener Azhar scored only six runs in two innings against Ireland and faces a stern examination against the new ball while Babar, who has made a sensational start to his one-day career, averages 25 after five ducks in his first 24 Test innings and has limited experience of English conditions.
