Eighty-two regular-season games and four rounds of best-of seven playoff series have led to this game, following which the Stanley Cup will be presented either to the hometown Boston Bruins or visiting St Louis Blues. In the ice hockey world, it doesn't get any bigger.

The magnitude of the event makes it harder to predict what will happen.

Boston forced the decider in the finals series with a comprehensive 5-1 defeat of the Blues in St Louis on Sunday.

That is the third time the Bruins have posted a convincing win this series, but on the previous two occasions St Louis have bounced back to edge a much closer contest next time out.

Blues coach Craig Berube has hinted the team will play a harder-hitting game in the decider, claiming his players have kept physicality in check to avoid the risk of picking up suspensions.

That's an odd comment considering two Blues players have missed a game through suspension during the series, and it could be a bit of mind games against Boston, whose captain Zdeno Chara has played the last two matches with a broken jaw.

If St Louis do elect to throw caution to the wind it would leave them open to penalties and that could be their undoing.

Boston have scored seven powerplay goals this series compared to one for the Blues, who have also conceded a goal while holding a man advantage.

Four of the six games have featured at least six goals and it could be worth taking the odds-against that over 5.5 cops again.

Recommendation
Over 5.5 goals in Game Seven
