Huybrechts value to catch Lewis cold again
Kim could hit Jackpot
ITV4 7pm Saturday
Twelve months ago Kim Huybrechts kicked off the new year by hammering Adrian Lewis 10-4 in round one of the Unibet Masters, and he’ll be hoping to catch Jackpot cold again.
A quirk of the seedings in this top-16 competition means the two men meet again and the Belgian looks decent value.
There were signs at Alexandra Palace that Huybrechts was putting a fairly ordinary year behind him. He had a tough draw but whitewashed James Wilson and Max Hopp, two of the toughest unseeded players. Huybrechts fell to Phil Taylor.
Back Robert Thornton to hit more 180s than James Wade at 4-5. Wade tends to produce fewer errant darts, but the Scot hits more maximums.
Michael van Gerwen has won the last five competitions he has entered and begins his quest for number six against Simon Whitlock.
One of Van Gerwen’s few defeats in 2016 was against Whitlock – in a Players Championship contest in Dublin in October – though he has since beaten the Australian three times, the last of which was a 10-0 hiding in the World Series quarter-finals.
