Hull KR can edge past dogged Featherstone

Robins closing in on promotion

Hull KR could have plenty to celebrate at Featherstone

Qualifiers 3pm Sunday

Hull KR are on course for a Super League return and they can take a step closer to the promised land by edging past Featherstone in their Qualifier showdown.

Three wins from three have left the Robins in pole position alongside Warrington but they haven’t had things all their own way this season against their dogged opponents.

Two wins and a draw reads well enough but both victories were by a margin of just eight points, while the most recent meeting in June finished 20-all after KR had battled back from 16-0 down.

Tim Sheens has built a strong squad at Craven Park and they deserve their position at the head of the standings but they can’t take this trip for granted.

Fev will be fired up following last week’s 58-10 drubbing at Widnes and must win if they are to keep their slim hopes of promotion alive.

Bookmakers think it unlikely and make them 13-5 for victory while they get an eight-point start on the handicap.

Hull KR are hot favourites at 4-11 but it may pay to back them to win a tight encounter.

It’s 21-10 the Robins win by no more than two converted tries and that looks the way to go.

Elsewhere, Halifax look worthy of support with a ten-point start at home to Catalans. Fax aren’t as poor as their position suggests and the French side rarely travel well.

With only a narrow win over London to shout about in the Qualifiers the Dragons are unlikely to cut loose and they haven’t won by more than the quoted line since April.

Widnes will be buoyant after last week’s win over Featherstone but their trip to Leigh looks a tricky one to call.
