Hot Atalanta set to cause another shock at Roma
Edin Dzeko struggling for goals
Atalanta started off 2018 with a shock 2-1 victory away to Napoli in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals and they can spring another surprise in Serie A by taking at least a point from fourth-placed Roma at the Stadio Olimpico.
This season has been a new experience for Atalanta, who are competing in the Europa League group stage for the first time.
They did extremely well in Europe, finishing at the top of a tough group with 14 points, but the extra fixtures seemed to have a negative impact on league results.
When qualification for the Europa League knockout stage was confirmed in November with a 5-1 win over Everton, Atalanta were 12th in Serie A with four wins from 13 matches.
Since then they have flourished, taking 11 points from their last six league games.
Atalanta are ninth, only three points adrift of the top six, and are probably taking on Roma at the right time.
For the first four months of the season Roma looked like being involved in the title race but they have fallen off the pace after winning just one of their last four league matches.
Last Saturday's 1-1 draw at home to lowly Sassuolo was a major blow and leaves the Wolves focused on pushing for a top-three finish rather than hoping to catch the top two of Napoli and Juventus.
Edin Dzeko has been Roma's go-to man in attack, scoring eight goals in 18 league appearances, but seven of those came in the first six games.
The Bosnian's dip in performance is one of the main reasons Roma have started to drop points and the pattern could continue against improving Atalanta.
