Hard-hitting Belgian looks set for success
WTA Quebec City
Hard-hitting Belgian Alison Van Uytvanck is not yet the finished article but she’s extremely talented and should make light work of Marina Erakovic in the second round in Quebec City.
Van Uytvanck’s attacking style can often cause her to make a host of unforced errors but she’s fearless and her natural ability is impossible to query.
The Belgian should prove better than her world ranking of 98 in time and she took Chinese number three Saisai Zheng to three sets in the opening round of the US Open, a performance which would see her blitz New Zealand’s Erakovic.
The seventh seed came from a set down to defeat home hope Carol Zhao in the last round, which should put her spot on for this, and she crushed Erakovic 6-4 6-2 in their sole meeting in June this year.
Van Uytvanck reached the quarter-finals in this event last year, before losing out to tournament winner Oceane Dodin, and she looks set for another fruitful week in Canada.
