Guptill may compound Pakistan struggles

Colin Munro (left) and Martin Guptill are a formidable opening pair for New Zealand

Champions Trophy winners Pakistan haven’t found a way to end their one-day hoodoo against New Zealand, who have won the teams’ last 50-over ten meetings and lead their current series 4-0.

The Kiwis had to recover from 99-4 to chase 263 in the fourth game in Hamilton and they have rested key bowler Trent Boult, who took 5-17 in the third ODI in Dunedin, for the series finale.

Despite Boult’s absence, New Zealand are 1-3 to complete a 5-0 series whitewash at Wellington’s Basin Reserve, which also staged the first match of the series.

Kiwi opener Martin Guptill scored 48 in that game, following up with 86 not out, 45 and 31 in the next three ODIs, and his runs line of 30.5 with Paddy Power looks a touch low.

Opening with the hard-hitting Colin Munro means Guptill can take fewer risks early in his innings so the new partnership could produce more consistent scores from the powerful right-hander.

Recommendation
M Guptill to score 31 or more runs
1pt 5-6 Paddy Power
