It would take a minor miracle for the Green Bay Packers to sneak into the playoffs this season, but Christmas is a time for miracles and they head to Miami full of belief after back-to-back wins.

The Packers climbed to 6-8 with a Week 15 win over the Los Angeles Rams, boosting their chances of making the playoffs to 8.4 per cent and demonstrating the marked improvements they’ve made on both sides of the ball against the reigning Super Bowl champions.

The Packers offence, now fully stocked with wide receivers after injury issues earlier in the season, ranks third in DVOA since Week Ten, while a defence that ranks eighth at stopping the pass matches up well against the Dolphins’ aerial attack.

The Fins are returning home after a three-game road trip in which they lost every match and although history suggests they should improve in familiar surroundings, more recent trends indicate a bounce-back performance is far from guaranteed.

Miami’s offensive line are giving up too many hits on quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, and are still missing Terron Armstead.

The defence is trending down too, ranking 26th in DVOA against the pass, presenting Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers with a good opportunity to make sure his team at least hang around in a game they have to win to remain relevant in the playoff picture.
