Travelers Championship: PGA Tour final-round preview and betting tips

The story so far
A seven-under-par third-round 63 saw Chez Reavie storm clear of the field in the Travelers Championship and the US journeyman will take some pegging back on the final day at TPC River Highlands.

Reavie, who has not won on the US Tour since a victory at the Canadian Open in 2008, was level-par for the front nine on Saturday but a remarkable seven birdies on the back nine saw the 37-year-old take control.

At 16 under par, he holds a six-shot lead over 2011 US PGA champion Keegan Bradley and surprise 36-hole leader Zack Sucher. Reavie is 2-7 to secure victory.

Sucher, playing on a sponsors invite, briefly reached 15 under on Saturday but a bogey and two doubles on the back nine saw the unlikely leader slip back into the pack. Roberto Diaz and Jason Day are seven behind Reavie at nine under.

Final-round advice
Chez Reavie was electric from tee to green on Saturday and, while it's unlikely that he will replicate that performance in the final round, the American should follow fellow Kansan and US Open champion Gary Woodland in picking up a title.

A six-shot buffer is considerable and while there are a clutch of talented players heading the chase, Reavie has played solid golf over the last couple of seasons and a victory has been on the cards - a third-placed finish at the US Open last week was the latest in a series of promising results.

Reavie was no bigger than 66-1 at the start of the tournament and looks unlikely to disappoint his backers.

Several bookmakers have priced up the tournament without the leader and they make Jason Day the favourite. The Aussie ace is a 4-1 shot with Bradley widely available at 9-2.

Patrick Cantlay carded a third-round 65 to move into contention and the Californian, who is one of the most in-form players in the world, has every chance of posting another low round.

He is nine shots behind Reavie, and only a serious wobble from the Kansan or a wonderful round from Cantlay is likely to see him bridge the gap, but he is more than capable of finishing second.

Twoball punters are pointed towards Viktor Hovland. The super-confident amateur turned pro this week and is already making his presence felt at TPC River Highlands.

He is paired with Kevin Kisner, who struggled on Saturday, and the exciting Norwegian should not be the outsider.
