Preview

Rocket Mortgage Classic favourite Patrick Cantlay is one of the early starters at Detroit Golf Club, so the world number four will be looking to set a clubhouse lead before the breeze gets up slightly in the afternoon.

Cantlay tees off at 12.40pm UK and Ireland time in the company of Cameron Champ and Gary Woodland. Sunday's 3M Open hero Tony Finau joins defending champion Cam Davis for the 12.18pm group, while world-class maidens Will Zalatoris and Cameron Young are alongside each other at 5.43pm.

Adam Hadwin seems a dangerman this week and must be respected in the outright market, but perhaps the best way of supporting the 32-year-old Moose Jaw man is in the top Canadian market.

Hadwin enjoyed a fresh injection of confidence last month when finishing seventh in the US Open - the first time he has put himself in the mix in a Major and his fifth top-ten of this season. This week he has returned to a track where he tied for fourth place on his debut in 2020.

Hadwin can see off Taylor Pendrith, who returned from a long injury lay-off earlier this month, and the rest of the Canadian contingent.
Scott Piercy's appetite for competition must be questionable after his sorry Sunday 76 in the 3M Open and rising star Joohyung Kim may boss his 6.38pm threeball against Piercy and Kevin Chappell.

In-form rookie Nick Hardy is preferred to Jhonattan Vegas in a 72-hole match. Hardy has clearly settled on the PGA Tour, while Vegas slipped outside the world's top 100 last month.
