Story so far

Stewart Cink leads the RBC Heritage by five shots going into the final round at the Harbour Town Links, retaining the advantage he had at the halfway stage with a 69 to move to 18 under par. The ante-post 150-1 chance has become a general 2-5 favourite with 18 holes to play.

Cink is scheduled to tee off at 7.10pm UK and Ireland time in the final twoball, alongside Collin Morikawa, who is alone in second place. Morikawa, the second-highest ranked player in the field behind world number one Dustin Johnson, fired a 67 to reach 13 under par.

Johnson is tied for 36th place, 13 shots off the pace. Defending champion, Webb Simpson, shares sixth spot, eight behind, and still has a small outright chance. Matthew Fitzpatrick is alongside Simpson in the tie for sixth.

Final-round preview

The closing holes of the third round highlighted the great strengths and weaknesses of Collin Morikawa and Stewart Cink - and illustrated why this tournament is a long way from over.

Morikawa, arguably the best iron-player to have arrived on the PGA Tour since Tiger Woods, peppered pins from the 13th hole onwards. He set up birdies from two feet, four feet, three feet and eight feet, covering the final six holes in four under par.

Cink, apparently cruising and looking set to take an enormous lead into Sunday, suffered at the hands of his old dancefloor demons on the 15th hole, missing a tiddler of a birdie putt and playing level par to the hut. The veteran's lead was reduced to five with 18 holes to play.

The approach-play genius of Morikawa and the frailty of Cink over short putts means the 5-1 available about the world number four is much more appealing than the general 2-5 about the leader.

The 9-2 Morikawa with firms still offering each-way terms - a quarter the odds the first two - is even more alluring. With regular Sunday flop, Emiliano Grillo, alone in third place, Morikawa backers can play each-way with the security of knowing they will not lose if their man finishes alone in second place. Matthew Fitzpatrick and Webb Simpson are only three shots behind Morikawa - and arguably the biggest dangers to Morikawa for runner-up honours - but the man alongside Cink in the final twoball will expect to finish either first or second.

Cink is a dual Heritage champion who loves this layout - and he has been all smiles with his son as caddie as the birdies flowed freely over the first two rounds. Stewart and Reagan looked understandably less relaxed coming home in round three, though, knowing a follow-up from their September Safeway Open success is far from in the bag.

Morikawa, who won his fourth PGA Tour title in the WGC-Workday Championship at the end of February, has been a professional for less than two years. He became a Major champion last year and has rapidly shown he can compete for the highest honours in the game. Reeling in Cink, even from five shots behind, seems well within his compass.

The Harbour Town Links suits the precision of Morikawa and he should set up countless birdie opportunities on a clear, relatively calm Sunday.

Simpson and Fitzpatrick, who have games tailor-made for the Harbour Town Links, can be employed for a Sunday twoballs double. Simpson - against Sungjae Im at 6.50pm - and Fitzpatrick - against Harold Varner at 6.40pm - can be expected to boss their matches. At 8-11 apiece with Betfair, the double pays a fraction under 2-1.
