Sweden's Jens Dantorp has posted some decent results on both the Challenge and DP World Tour since the turn of the year, which have pushed him 240 places up the world rankings, and he should get his ISPS Handa World Invitational campaign off to a decent start on Thursday.

Dantorp won the Challenge de Espana in May, one of five Challenge Tour top tens this year, and was then able to transfer that form to finishes of eighth at the Cazoo Classic and fifth at the Hero Open on the more senior circuit.

He should be able to get the better of Maverick Antcliff and amateur Barclay Brown in the 1.36pm first-round threeball at Galgorm Castle, where the 33-year-old from Malmo was seventh in the Northern Ireland Open in 2013.

He was a disappointing 67th at the Cazoo Open at Celtic Manor last week, but should be able to put that behind him to at least outscore his Thursday afternoon playing partners.

Antcliff was tied for third when the Irish Open was played at County Antrim in 2020 but he has not posted a top-ten since May 2021.

The fact the Australian has made the top 50 in just one DP World Tour tournament in 2022 provokes even less enthusiasm.

Brown is rising through the amateur ranks and made the cut at the Open last month after carding an opening 68 at St Andrews before finishing 79th.

He was 59th at Celtic Manor last week when he hit an opening 79 and a closing 77, and he could be in for a difficult week as he continues to carve a path for himself in the game.
