This week's penultimate round of the FedEx Cup playoffs presents an interesting conundrum for punters with the BMW Championship taking place at Wilmington Country Club, which stages a professional tournament for the first time.

But what we should be assured of is a battle where few players will be giving up as not only is there a chance to gain promotion to the top-30 spots and earn a place at next week's Tour Championship, but also a higher standing will give them a better chance of winning the $18m first prize at East Lake.

As the season heads to its conclusion, it is inevitable that some players are finishing with a flourish while others are finding it all a bit tough, and we can ride that wave by backing Brian Harman to get the better of Mito Pereira in a 72-hole match bet - there is not cut in the 70-man tournament.

Diminutive lefty Harman is not the biggest hitter on tour but he could still be a factor at Wilmington as he looks to build on his position of 23rd in the FedEx standings.

His third place at last week's FedEx St Jude Championship was his best performance of a season that has yielded six top-ten finishes, as he built on a sixth spot at the Open at St Andrews.

He should not be discounted this week, while most of the success that took Pereira to 42nd in the rankings came a while ago.

The Chilean missed four cuts before finishing 42nd last week and it could be that his race has been run.

Open champion Cameron Smith is absent this week, and former Masters champion Adam Scott could take advantage to be the top Australian finisher at Wilmington.

There have been signs of life from Scott, who has always been a great ball-striker, and he was tied fifth in Memphis last week, which took him to 46th in the rankings and in with a shot of making next week's showdown.

Cam Davis looks his main rival and has posted five successive top-20 finishes, but he may have a bit too much to do from 52nd, so there is a chance Scott could get his nose in front.

Their rivals Marc Leishman and Lucas Herbert have shown little in recent weeks to suggest they will be a factor in Delaware.
