Steve Palmer's LIV Korea preview
Joaquin Niemann has won half of the LIV events this season, claiming three victories from six starts, and the 26-year-old Chilean carries huge confidence to LIV Korea.
Bryson DeChambeau overwhelmed Chapultepec in LIV Mexico City for 48 holes last week, but was three over par for his final six, allowing Niemann to overtake the American. Jon Rahm finished fourth after suffering with a cold putter.
Niemann is the most appealing of the LIV Korea market principals – all five of his LIV titles have come outside of America – but preference is for going deeper in the market to identify value.
Steve Palmer's top tip
Dustin Johnson 28-1
Former world number one Dustin Johnson can silence his critics by claiming a fourth LIV title this week. The 40-year-old, one of the first to join the breakaway circuit, has won a LIV event every season and will be keen to continue that streak.
Lots of players in this week's field are seeing Jack Nicklaus GC for the first time, but Johnson starred in the 2015 Presidents Cup there, scoring three points from four matches. He has won three times on the DP World Tour in Asia, including a WGC in China, and was fourth in the Ballantine's Championship in Incheon in 2011, so has enjoyed his trips to this region.
The end of Johnson's contract with TaylorMade has seen him testing lots of new equipment this year. On the evidence of last week's performance in Mexico, where he enjoyed a nine-under-par weekend, his bag is sorted.
Johnson finished seventh in Mexico City. His last trip to Asia ended in fifth place in LIV Singapore last month.
Next best bet
Louis Oosthuizen 66-1
Another star from the 2015 Presidents Cup who will be looking forward to this event is Louis Oosthuizen, who was unbeaten against the Americans, scoring four and a half points from five matches. He was fifth in his only Ballantine's Championship appearance in Incheon in 2013, having won the Malaysian Open the year prior.
This experienced Asia performer played well every time he teed up on the Asian Tour last year, finishing second in Oman and third in Qatar, and his best result of this year was in Asia – sharing fifth spot with Johnson in Singapore. The former world number four can make an impact in Korea.
Other selection
Peter Uihlein 60-1
American powerhouse Peter Uihlein won twice on the Asian Tour last year, including a five-shot romp in Qatar in December, and he was second in an event in Thailand. This year he was sixth in LIV Hong Kong before tenth spot in the Macau Open.
The former world number one amateur lost a playoff to Brooks Koepka for the 2022 LIV Jeddah and Uihlein's excellent record generally in Asia makes him a must for the staking plan at juicy prices.
