Date Thursday, December 11 to Sunday, December 14
Course East Course, Royal Johannesburg Club, Johannesburg, South Africa
Start time 4.20am on Thursday
TV Live on Sky Sports Main Event and Golf from 10am on Thursday

Christiaan Bezuidenhout heads the market for the Alfred Dunhill Championship after finishing fourth in the Nedbank Challenge on Sunday, but the 31-year-old is not reliable enough in contention to be a sensible investment at such short odds.

Rising star Angel Ayora probably represents better value at a slightly bigger price, but the Spaniard is seeing Royal Johannesburg for the first time this week, so may need time to settle.

Top tip

Casey Jarvis 40-1

The talent Casey Jarvis demonstrated as a teenager playing in amateur events in South Africa has always had him marked down as a potential superstar – and his DP World Tour breakthrough moment may have arrived in his homeland this week.

Jarvis triumphed in the South African Amateur at Royal Johannesburg in 2020, one of many trophies he held aloft in his younger days, and he won the final 7&6 as he dominated the tournament. He can hit the ground running at the same venue this week.

Jarvis does not turn 23 until July. He won on the Challenge Tour in 2023 and last month was victorious twice on the Sunshine Tour, winning the Hyundai Open and the Vodacom Origins of Golf Final, so the Boksburg boy is bursting with form and confidence.

Jarvis finished tenth last time out in a Sunshine Tour event and looks primed to shed his DP World Tour maiden tag at a happy hunting ground.

Next best bet

Jayden Schaper 12-1

A duel between two potentially world-class South African youngsters could be in the offing. Jayden Schaper gained more experience of contending for titles when in the mix at Gary Player Country Club last week, carding a bogey-free Sunday 68 to pile pressure on the frontrunning Kristoffer Reitan, and Schaper seems ready to win at the age of 24.

This sweet swinger has become a model of consistency, posting a top-25 finish in his last five events, and is course-proven coming to Royal Johannesburg. He finished fifth in the 2021 Kit Kat Group Pro-Am, a Sunshine Tour event, at this week's venue.

Other selections

Kieran Vincent 100-1
Louis Albertse 400-1
Rhys Enoch 400-1

Zimbabwean powerhouse Kieran Vincent will be relishing the chance to tee off at a track where he won the Waterfall City Tournament of Champions in May this year. That was a three-round event and Vincent's second Sunshine Tour victory.

Vincent won on the Asian Tour in 2023 and has also spent enough time on the LIV circuit to considerably bolster his bank balance, so the 28-year-old can approach a low-grade Sunshine Tour gathering like this week's with bundles of assurance. The rain in the build-up at Royal Johannesburg will encourage this gung-ho player further.

Two other course-proven players can be followed at massive prices. Louis Albertse won the 2024 Waterfall City Tournament of Champions at this week's venue by a seven-shot margin. Distancing himself from the rest of the field like that in a three-round event shows how much he relished the assignment and his 23-under-par total would be competitive this week over four rounds.

Albertse won a Sunshine Tour event at the end of September and the 29-year-old has three Sunshine Tour titles to his name in total. He finished 17th in a ST event last time out.

Complete the staking plan with Rhys Enoch, who is also a course winner. The Welshman won the 2021 Kit Kat Group Pro-Am at Royal Johannesburg's East Course and has three ST victories in total under his belt. He won on the Challenge Tour in 2019.

The 37-year-old is in tidy form, finishing tenth in a Challenge Tour event in September, ninth in a Sunshine Tour event in October and 23rd on the Sunshine Tour last time out. Enoch has always been blessed with exceptional talent and is on offer at a disrespectful price in this grade.
