Consistent CT Pan looks the man to be beside at the Seaside

Sky Sports Golf red button, 6.30pm Thursday

RSM Classic favourite Webb Simpson tees off at 4.10pm UK & Ireland time in the first round at the Seaside Course, Sea Island, Georgia, with Jim Furyk and Zach Johnson alongside him.

Two tracks are employed for the first two rounds, with the easier Plantation Course also being used, and second-favourite Cameron Champ will be looking to make hay on the Plantation from a 3.10pm berth.

The pick of the first-round threeball card is CT Pan, who should outscore Matt Jones and Keith Mitchell on the narrow, fiddly Seaside Course in their 2.30pm meeting. Pan is extremely accurate and has posted nine top-25 finishes in his last 15 tournaments, while his RSM form figures are 6-13. This former world number one amateur should prove too steady for his much more erratic playing partners.

The other day-one option which appeals is Chesson Hadley to beat Brian Gay and Stewart Cink in their 4pm Plantation group. Hadley, the longest driver in the group, is an aggressive player who loves attacking easy courses. The Plantation looks at his mercy, given he finished second in the CIMB Classic a month ago and seventh in the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open last time out.

Denny McCarthy, a tidy, improving player who is exceptional on the greens, can be fancied to account for Jamie Lovemark in a 72-hole match, while Kevin Kisner, the 2015 champion and the 72-hole RSM Classic record holder, may leave Luke List behind. This event, with three rounds on the Seaside Course, favours precise operators such as Kisner over bombers like List.
