A sizzling closing round of 62 lifted JT Poston to a 100-1 victory in the PGA Tour's Wyndham Championship.

Poston began the final day three shots behind leader Byeong Hun An and still 35-1 for glory, but he raced through the field to pip Webb Simpson, Steve Palmer's pre-tournament each-way headline selection, by one shot with An finishing third.

The final FedEx Cup places were up for grabs and 13th place was enough for Patton Kizzire to secure his spot in the end-of-season playoffs, while Andrew Landry also moved into the top 125.

Pat Perez held on to the final qualifying place by just two points from Richy Werenski despite missing the cut at the Wyndham.

The playoffs begin with this week's Northern Trust event at Liberty National in New Jersey. Brooks Koepka is the 9-1 favourite with Rory McIlroy 11-1. Poston is a 125-1 chance.

Paul Casey (ranked eighth), Henrik Stenson (85) and Sam Burns (89) are not taking part this week, reducing the field to 122.

The top 70 in the standings after the Northern Trust are eligible to proceed to the BMW Championship, with the top 30 after that event contesting the Tour Championship.
