Goal-shy Girona look set for more misery in Vigo

Celta have scored in all six matches this season

Iago Aspas is a goal threat for Celta Vigo

La Liga new boys Girona have hit the buffers and they may struggle to get out of their rut at Celta Vigo.

Girona started as if they meant business, drawing 2-2 with Atletico Madrid and beating Malaga 1-0. But since then the newly-promoted neighbours of Barcelona have struggled, taking one point from a possible 12.

The Catalans have not scored in any of those fixtures against Athletic Bilbao, Sevilla, Leganes and Barcelona, and managed just two shots in their last three outings.

Girona were quite attacking early on but that has changed and their tactics during last week's 3-0 defeat to Barcelona were criticised after Manchester City loanee Pablo Maffeo was tasked with doing a negative man-marking job on Lionel Messi.

One goal may well be enough for Celta to take the spoils in Vigo and they have scored in all six matches this season despite understandably needing time to settle under new boss Juan Carlos Unzue, who was Barcelona's assistant manager before replacing Sevilla-bound Eduardo Berizzo.

Celta put four past Eibar last week with Pione Sisto impressing and 22-year-old Slovakian midfielder Stanislav Lobotka is capable of running the game against Girona.

Recommendation
