Giants will need their defence to come up trumps
Golladay a good bet to add to his TD tally
Sky Sports Action/Main Event, 1.30am Monday night
A game between the Detroit Lions and New York Giants in recent years conjures up the prospect of a high-scoring shootout between two offensively-stacked sides.
But this scrap in the the Big Apple could see defences on top.
Detroit remain an offensive force with big-money quarterback Matt Stafford leading the way and they put 35 points on the board against Arizona in their opener.
But this is a much tougher assignment for them against the impressive Giants defence.
In Week 15 last season the Motor City men made the same trip to the MetLife Stadium and suffered a 17-6 defeat.
The Giants looked poor on offence in their 19-3 Week One defeat in Dallas but their defence remains a force.
With QB Eli Manning lacking the spark and strength of his earlier days and star receiver Odell Beckham looking likely to be missing again, the Giants could find points hard to come by again.
The Lions have a couple of trump cards up their sleeve and are slightly preferred in the handicap market getting a start.
Top wideout Golden Tate had 122 yards in the December clash, even though Detroit failed to find the end zone, while Marvin Jones will be looking for improvement after being kept quiet by Arizona’s Patrick Peterson last week.
Tight end Eric Ebron could be lost in the mix and have a bigger role to play but the Lions have unearthed a potential gem in Kenny Golladay, who snared two touchdowns on his debut.
The presence of Tate and Jones means he will be up against the lesser lights of the Giants defence and he could score again at a decent price.
