Getafe v Valladolid 7pm
Newly-promoted Valladolid have not scored in their opening two matches and their lack of firepower could cost them at Getafe. Jaime Mata was the hero of Valladolid's promotion winning season, scoring 33 goals, but he will be lining up against them after sealing a summer switch to Getafe.

Villarreal v Girona 9pm
Villarreal will be feeling much more confident after Sunday's 0-0 draw at Sevilla and they should chalk up a first win of the campaign when taking on Getafe at El Madrigal. The Yellow Submarines were sunk 2-1 by Real Sociedad in their first home game but face an easier task against Girona, who have one point from two games.

La Liga
9pm Friday

Real Sociedad have collected four points from two tricky road trips and can produce another decent away performance at second-bottom Eibar, where they are worthy favourites to prevail.

This is the fifth consecutive season in the top flight for Eibar, who have posted successive top-half finishes (tenth in 2016-17 and ninth last season).

However, manager Jose Mendilibar is working with one of the tightest budgets in the league and this summer has been really tough due to the departure of three key players - right back Ander Capa and midfielder Dani Garcia, who have both joined Athletic Bilbao, and attacker Takashi Inui, who has signed for Real Betis.

Mendilibar's side have made a poor start, losing 2-1 at home to newly-promoted Huesca and 2-0 at Getafe, and relegation fears are increasing with the Basque outfit just 9-2 for a bottom-three finish.

There will be lots of opportunities for Eibar to turn their season around but it looks a tough time to take on La Real, who appear determined to improve on last season's 13th place.

Real Sociedad struggled last term despite scoring 66 goals in 38 league games.

They were the third highest scorers in the division but struggled for consistency due to a leaky defence.

However, their new manager, Asier Garitano, is working to address the weaknesses and has snapped up a new left-back, Theo Hernandez, on loan from Real Madrid.

It is a case of so far so good for Garitano, who started off with an impressive 2-1 success at Villarreal and followed it up with a 2-2 draw at Leganes, his former club.

Sociedad's defence may still need a bit more work but their attack, spearheaded by Brazilian forward Willian Jose, continues to impress and that could be key to delivering another victory.
