All-Ireland Hurling Championship predictions

Cork vs Dublin predictions

RTE, 5pm Saturday

These sides faced off in the quarter-finals last year when Cork came out five points the better in a pretty drab affair. But Saturday's encounter should have a bit more vigour given both teams are coming in off huge victories, albeit Cork have had a four-week break since they beat Limerick on penalties in the Munster final.

Dublin had their own success over Limerick a fortnight ago in extraordinary circumstances given Chris Crummey, an integral part of their defence, was given his marching orders after 15 minutes.

In the biggest shock result in hurling in recent memory, Dublin showed outstanding resolve to run out two-point victors and their ability to turn over Limerick in the middle third and their intricate, off-the-shoulder running game reaped huge dividends.

They face a different and bigger challenge against Cork. It's hard to see them repeating the feat but their physicality and athleticism is a match for anyone, as is their ability to plunder goals as they've netted 14 times in their last five games.

The eight-point handicap is probably on the big side but Pat Ryan's team can rack up serious tallies once they click. With that in mind, it's better to delve into the goals market, particularly given Dublin's potency in front of goal, while every one of Cork's five championship matches this year has featured three or more.

Kilkenny vs Tipperary predictions

RTE, 4pm Sunday

Tipperary swatted away a very disappointing Galway with the minimum of fuss to set up a highly anticipated clash with arch rivals Kilkenny in the other semi-final and it's been a very smooth passage for Derek Lyng's men to this point.

They too had little trouble disposing of Galway to land their sixth successive Leinster final and have been racking up healthy scores in their provincial games. Bar losing a dead rubber against Wexford in the final round, they've eclipsed 30 points in all of their games and have been averaging 3.6 goals per game.

Leinster isn't as competitive as Munster day-in, day-out but that's still impressive shooting and the return of Eoin Cody will further bolster a very much in-form forward line where Billy Ryan and Martin Keoghan are operating particularly well.

However, given this is essentially a new-look Tipperary side in many respects, their inexperience is a concern. They haven't played at Croke Park since the 2019 All-Ireland final when they beat Kilkenny the last time the two teams met, meaning a lot of Tipperary players will be having their first experience of playing at GAA headquarters.

Ordinarily that wouldn't be too much of a concern but it is when you're up against a side with the experience and knowhow of their opponents.

That aside, Kilkenny have the edge regardless. While they haven't been far away in recent years, this particular group of players seem ready to stage a big push for an All-Ireland and they can get the job done.
