Waterford vs Limerick predictions

GAA+, 6pm Saturday

This should be a fascinating encounter as Waterford will naturally take plenty of confidence from their opening win against Clare last weekend but they face a Limerick side in need of a victory with key players returning.

Limerick were a shade underwhelming when drawing with Tipperary in their curtain raiser, when a curious decision to move Kyle Hayes out of centre back backfired. But the return of Dan Morrissey and Sean Finn to their full back line will shore things up considerably.

While they've named a very strong side, Limerick have not been at their brilliant best this year given their form was extremely volatile throughout the League and Tipperary managed to disrupt them last time.

However, Waterford made a real statement when beating Clare convincingly and were particularly impressive given they had to go and win the game playing into a strong wind after a stop-start first half. They are still being underestimated, especially given the form of Conor Prunty, Stephen Bennett and Jamie Barron, while they can get more out of Dessie Hutchinson who was uncharacteristically quiet last week.

This is a tricky game for a Limerick side who are yet to catch fire this year and the Deise men are capable of coming out of the blocks fast and running them very close.
