Galway v Offaly
2pm Sunday
Galway are 1-20 with some firms to make it four wins from four in their rescheduled Division 2 clash with Offaly and, while they will probably get the job done at home, they look too short.
Offaly were supposed to be the whipping boys in the division, but they should have two points banked rather than just one as only a goal from Joey Wallace deep into stoppage time deprived them victory against Meath last weekend.
Galway are motoring along and their 3-22 to 2-17 win over Cork was a real statement of intent with regard to promotion, but the Rebels have been overrated all season and are missing some marquee players so it would be foolish to read too much into the outcome.
Offaly's best chance is to set up a solid defensive foundation and this game could be lower scoring than expected. Meath notched only 1-10 against them and Clare 1-13.
Nine points is a big handicap for a league match in early March and Offaly can keep within it. Galway could win this game comfortably and still prevail by only three or four points.
Niall McNamee looks as sharp as ever up front for Offaly and kicked 1-3 against Meath, while David Hyland notched four points last week too and both can pose the Galway defence a few problems.
Derry dished out a heavy defeat to Offaly earlier in the campaign but a late Shane McGuigan goal put an extra coat of gloss on the scoreline there and a scoring spree just before half-time knocked the stuffing out of Offaly.
They are a better side than bookmakers give them credit for so it is worth backing them to defy a nine-point handicap, as well as taking the 13-2 for the home side to win by one, two or three points. The 8-1 about Offaly leading at half-time and Galway going on to win and is of interest as well.
