Tyrone v Donegal

2pm Sunday

It could prove foolish to read too much into Donegal's opening-round victory over All-Ireland champions Kerry as conditions were atrocious and it turned into a dour struggle.

Kerry, of course, were without a number of familiar faces including the Clifford brothers and their style of play doesn't suit days like last Sunday. They like to kick the ball as much as possible but conditions didn't lend themselves to doing that.

It appears that all is not well in the Donegal camp and Tyrone could well topple them in round two.

The 2021 All-Ireland champs were shocked by Roscommon in the opening round and will know only too well that a second defeat on the trot could spell relegation. They will be up for this against one of their arch Ulster rivals.

Tyrone were three points up with the wind behind them when Darren McCurry fluffed a glorious goal chance. They probably would have won comfortably had he taken that.

McCurry was  brought on only at half-time last week but we can expect him to be used from the start this time along with the speedy Niall Sludden, who entered the fray on the hour mark against Roscommon.

Tyrone have an endless supply of attacking talent and, with home advantage, should win this one comfortably. They are the bet of the weekend.

Kildare v Cork

2pm Sunday

Although beaten by Dublin in round one, Kildare proved they are real contenders for promotion with a very encouraging display at Croke Park. Indeed, with more composure up front they could have shocked the Dubs.

Cork are fragile at the back, as Meath proved last Sunday, and it's a surprise that the handicap is now more than two points given the game is in Newbridge where the Lilywhites are always hard to beat.

Jack Robinson looks a real find up front. He is an exceptional talent, while Neil Flynn and Jimmy Hyland are reliable point builders. They should have too much for Cork.

Meath v Clare

2pm Sunday

The Colm O'Rourke era got off to the perfect start last weekend with a surprise victory over Cork and Meath can bank maximum points when Clare visit Navan too.

There has not been much between these two sides in recent years but Meath now have more flair up front with Shane Walsh appearing on the scene. He scored 1-7 last week and looked a threat every time he gained possession.

Along with Jordan Morris, Matthew Costello and Cillian O'Sullivan, Meath have some real firepower up front for the first time in quite a while and are fancied to defy a two-point handicap.
