Limerick v Waterford

2pm Sunday

Munster rivals Limerick and Waterford were due to meet on Saturday night, but adverse weather conditions associated with Storm Dennis saw the match postponed and rearranged for Sunday afternoon.

The teams are putting their 100 per cent winning records on the line in a tasty round-three clash that sees a repeat of last year's National League final, with John Kiely's men expected to oblige fairly comfortably.

Limerick's 1-24 to 0-19 win isn't hugely relevant to this test considering Waterford's changes in personnel on either side of the white lines, but Limerick are really rolling this season.

This will be the Deise's biggest test in this competition. They outclassed Westmeath as expected last time and saw off a Cork outfit not best known for blistering league campaigns in their 2020 opener.

A trip to the Gaelic Grounds will be altogether different as they take on a Limerick side who are as short as 2-5 to top Division 1A.

The Shannonsiders defied a slow start to overhaul Tipperary in the second half of their round-one tie before dominating Galway - who are in a similar situation to Waterford in terms of development under a new manager - at home last time.

They are hurling at an advanced level for this stage of the year and, having covered the handicap comfortably against Galway last week, they look good value at 5-6 in the -3 handicap market.

Ace forward Aaron Gillane came on as a substitute with 15 minutes to go a fortnight ago but will start this time around - he looked hungry for goals when bagging 1-6 against Tipperary.

The sharp shooter from Patrickswell scored 1-9 against the south-eastern side in last year's league decider and put up 1-4 during their 20-point win in the 2019 Munster campaign, so don't be surprised if Gillane rattles the net again.
