Kerry vs Mayo predictions
TG4, 4pm Sunday
For most of the last two months it looked more likely that Mayo and Kerry would get relegated from Division 1 rather than win it but somehow the two sides have sneaked into the final of a competition nobody seems to want to win due to its close proximity to the championship.
The unlikely finalists have got there by accident but, now that they are there, it is hard to envisage either of the sides not going full throttle in an attempt to secure silverware.
Jack O'Connor has history with the Kingdom. Each time he has won the All-Ireland he has won a league title beforehand and superstition is a very big deal in Kerry. They seem to be peaking at the perfect time following a sluggish start to the campaign and it's no surprise to see them made warm favourite for glory.
That said, it is hard to believe Kerry are 1-4. That's ridiculously short given Mayo have won four of their last five games and drawn the other. As well as that, when these two sides met at the start of the month Mayo deservedly landed the spoils by two points after scoring 0-21. This won't be as straightforward as the betting suggests.
Ryan O'Donoghue is the key man for Mayo and he is worth looking at when the individual player markets come out before the game. He could score six points and it wouldn't be a surprise were he to find the back of the net. All eyes will be on Kerry's David Clifford, but the Mayo marksman has been on fire this spring and that form should continue into the championship.
Speaking of goals, a shade of odds-on about three or more goals in the match seems generous. Mayo have netted three in their last two matches and Kerry have scored nine goals in their last four games and 16 in all.
Kerry have been particularly clinical of late and their three majors on the final day against Galway played a huge part in their passage to the final.
Monaghan vs Roscommon predictions
TG4, 7.15pm Saturday
Roscommon are marginal outsiders for the Division 2 decider but that shouldn't be the case.
When Roscommon welcomed Monaghan to Dr Hyde Park in mid-February, it was men against boys in the second-half where they turned a four-point interval deficit into a five-point win. It could have been more, too. The wind played a big part in that encounter, but you wouldn't have believed anyone who told you Monaghan would be favourites when the two sides would meet again in March.
Since Roscommon hammered Cork in round five they have taken their foot off the gas. They have been beaten by Cavan and drawn with Westmeath, but winning a league title remains a pretty big deal in that part of the world and Davy Burke's side should treat the game with full respect.
Monaghan were beaten by Down last week and in the previous round they kicked two-pointers for fun with the wind against Meath. That wide-margin win gave a false sense of where Monaghan are at right now as they couldn't miss in the opening half and the game was over by half-time.
Roscommon have superior forwards to Monaghan and Croke Park will suit their style of play. If Ciaran and Diarmuid Murtagh are on song it could be a long night for Monaghan. Indeed, it wouldn't be a major shock if Roscommon won by five points or more.
Kildare vs Offaly predictions
TG4, 1.45pm Sunday
It might seem strange to see Offaly such big outsiders for the Division 3 decider given they beat finalists Kildare by six points - 2-17 to 0-17 - just a fortnight ago but we should expect a completely different performance from the Lilywhites and they should have no problem coping with a three-point handicap.
Kildare were five points down to Antrim at half-time last Sunday and their promotion bid looked in deep trouble but they scored the first 1-8 of the second half and the last seven points of the game to win by 11, scoring a tasty 1-26 in the process.
Kildare really turned it on when they needed to and they have way more gears than Offaly, especially if Niall Kelly, Darragh Kirwan and Kevin Feely are on song.
Mickey Harte has made an explosive start with Offaly and he tends to have a honeymoon period everywhere he goes, but Kildare surely have too much firepower up front and a comfortable Kildare win is fancied.
Limerick vs Wexford predictions
TG4, 5pm Saturday
Wexford are hot favourites for Division 4 silverware after winning all seven group games on their way to Croke Park.
They should get the job done and confirm their superiority over Limerick, whom they beat 0-17 to 0-13 in round two away in Rathkeale.
It could be lower scoring than the points spread suggest and backing Limerick to score 19 points or fewer looks the play.
