Group previews

Group Twelve of the Championship League looks one of the most competitive in the competition with classy operators Kyren Wilson and Ryan Day heading the field.

That pair will probably be feeling unlucky to have been drawn in the same section and with the capable Alfie Burden added to the mix the 4-6 about Wilson coming out on top doesn't make a great deal of appeal.

Day is rated an 11-4 shot to progress and that could be a bit of value. It's been a pretty poor season for Dynamite, but with so many tournaments available to players, there are bound to be peaks and troughs in terms of results.

It was only a couple of years ago that Day won the Romanian and Riga Masters, the Gibraltar Open and made the semi-final of the UK Championship.

It's only a matter of time before the wins begin to flow again and it could be the right time to get with the Welshman.

Quality cueman Joe Perry is a worthy favourite in Group Four but his credentials haven't been underplayed by the layers. The Gentleman is rated a 5-6 poke to top the group with Mark King second favourite at 5-2.

Neither of those prices make much appeal so perhaps the value lies with Sam Baird at 15-2.

Baird is not the most consistent potter on tour but he's a dangerous scorer when finding his rhythm and he could be worth chancing over this short format which starts at 3pm each day.
