Verdict

Barnsley are hoping the arrival of new manager Poya Asbaghi will turn their fortunes around but they have lost nine of their last ten matches and could come up short against Swansea.

It is only six months ago that Swansea completed a hard-fought 2-1 aggregate success over Barnsley in the Championship playoff semi-finals.

The Swans went on to lose to Brentford in the playoff final but they seem to have recovered much better from the disappointment of missing out on promotion than Barnsley.

Swansea started the season slowly but they have collected 14 points from their last eight games and are starting to see themselves as promotion candidates.

The outlook is very different for Barnsley, who finished the weekend four points adrift of safety, and the Tykes' survival chances may hinge on making a few smart moves in the January transfer window.

In the meantime, Asbaghi must try to get better performances from a dispirited bunch but his reign is unlikely to start on a positive note.

QPR's squad strength came to the fore on Friday as they beat Luton and it could give them the edge over promotion rivals Huddersfield at Loftus Road.

Hoops' attackers Lyndon Dykes and Andre Gray were unavailable to face the Hatters but goals from Chris Willock and Charlie Austin handed QPR the points.

The Londoners have plenty of match-winners in their ranks and should have too much individual quality for Huddersfield, who have failed to win on each of their last five road trips.
