Switzerland have given Belgium a decent run for their money in Nations League A Group 2, but they may fall just short by drawing against the Red Devils in Lucerne.

Belgium are defending a 100 per cent record but they would slip to second place if they lose 1-0, 2-1 or by more than one goal. They will be far from full-strength with Jan Vertonghen, Mousa Dembele and Kevin De Bruyne ruled out with injuries.

There is still plenty of talent available to Belgium head coach Roberto Martinez, including Eden Hazard and Romelu Lukaku, who scored both of their goals in a 2-1 success over the Swiss in Brussels in October.

However, last month's clash was closely fought – the Belgians narrowly won the shot count 19-16 – and a tougher task awaits Martinez's side in Switzerland.

The Swiss have not tasted defeat a competitive home game since losing 2-0 to England in a Euro 2016 qualifier in September 2014.

They were well below par in a 1-0 friendly loss to Qatar in Lugano on Wednesday but should be much more competitive against the Belgians as they chase a passage to next summer's finals.

Belgian goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois could be kept fairly busy but Switzerland lack star quality in attack – winger Xherdan Shaqiri is the top scorer in the squad with 22 goals.

Luxembourg are chasing Belarus in League D Group 2 and can do all they can in the battle for top spot by beating third-placed Moldova in Chisinau.

Belarus are highly likely to win the section because they need just a draw from their trip to basement boys San Marino.

But Luxembourg are making significant progress and can claim their fourth victory of the tournament against Moldova, who they defeated 4-0 in September.
