Superstar Sanchez should help Chile into semi-finals

Australia have racked up the miles at this year's Confederations Cup but their journey is likely to be ended by Group B table-toppers Chile when the sides meet in Moscow with a semi-final spot up for grabs.

The Socceroos need to win by at least two goals to make the semis but that looks a step too far. This is Australia's third game in a week in a campaign which started down in Sochi, then saw them travel up to St Petersburg before a visit to Moscow.

It has taken them around 2,000 miles and, while travelling vast distances is nothing new to Australia for their World Cup qualifiers in Asia, rarely do they come up against the kind of talent possessed by Chile and their superstar duo of Arturo Vidal and Alexis Sanchez.

Australia shipped three times against Germany and were on the back foot in Thursday's 1-1 draw against Cameroon, so logic dictates this will be a tough task against opponents who beat them 3-1 at the last World Cup in Brazil three years ago.

Sanchez opened the scoring on that occasion and the Arsenal man looks most likely to do the damage again.

He came into this tournament with a minor injury problem but his 32-minute cameo off the bench changed the game against Cameroon as he assisted goals by Vidal and Eduardo Vargas.

Sanchez broke the deadlock in Thursday's 1-1 draw with Germany and arrived at the Confederations Cup having scored in each of his last five appearances for Arsenal.
