Sligo can maintain survival push with Tallaght triumph

Hosts Hoops have nothing to play for after cup replay loss

Sligo Rovers manager Gerard Lyttle

Kick-offs from 7.45pm Friday

Sligo Rovers should not be good enough to beat Shamrock Rovers on Friday evening but there is a huge contrast in terms of what is at stake for both clubs.

The Hoops essentially have nothing to play for and will be deflated after losing to Dundalk in their FAI Cup semi-final replay on Tuesday, whereas Sligo are deep in the relegation mire, albeit after putting some good results together under Ger Lyttle.

Crucially, they are conceding far fewer goals and, while they remain a bit light in attack, confidence is relatively high and they will not fear going to Tallaght.

The big game on Friday night sees Galway United and St Patrick’s Athletic meet in Terryland.

Tension will be high but the goals expectancy might be high too – over 2.5 goals is 8-11 with bet365 – and both outfits to net at Eamonn Deacy Park is bound to be popular. That said, odds of 4-7 reflect that.

Bohemians have not been at their best and they are pretty safe, whereas Cork can win the title with victory at Dalymount.

If Cork put their minds to it, they should be good enough, and 8-13 looks worth taking.
